Professional Development is one of the most valuable assets to the Hoosier PRSA Chapter. Members and non-members alike have the opportunity to expand their skill-set in a way that the workplace and traditional classroom cannot teach. We strive to explore new trends in the industry, examine key issues and always ask questions. Please explore the multiple professional development opportunities our local and national chapters have to offer.
Monthly Luncheons
Held the second Wednesday of the month from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at various locations, monthly luncheons provide professionals networking opportunities, key information on new strategies, techniques and trends effecting PR professionals throughout the Indiana and on a national scale.
Meet the Media Sessions
Sessions are held regularly throughout the year and are targeted to PR practitioners who handle media relations. Editors and reporters describe their organization and how PR practitioners can best work with them to publicize their organization’s and/or clients’ news. Sessions are FREE with Hoosier PRSA membership.
Continuing Education Programs
Seminars are held regularly throughout the year to enhance a PR practitioners’ knowledge and skills. Topics are typically specific in nature and can range from event planning to social networking to career enhancement. While some seminars are offered primarily for networking, others provide practical, hands-on training on current public relations tactics and measurement tools.
Call for Presentations
You've spent years honing your skills as a PR professional. Now share your expertise with more than 400 PR professionals from around the State of Indiana. The Professional Development team is always accepting presentation submissions on a rolling basis for the programs identified above. Topics of interest include social media and emerging trends, media relations, relationship and reputation management, communications planning and measurement, management and leadership, techniques and tactics, and PR success stories, among others.
Submissions should be e-mailed toprofdevelopment@hoosierprsa.org, no less than three months before your desired presentation time. The following information should be included:
1. Name, Title, Organization, Address, Zip, Telephone and E-mail
a. If more than one presenter, please include information for each and designate the lead presenter
2. Proposed title of presentation
3. Brief description (100 words max)
4. Bio for each presenter (max 200 words); if speakers have not yet identified, please share in as much detail as possible what types of speakers you are securing
5. List three main learning objectives
